"Bury the dead" is a Corporal Work of Mercy that inspires our work. But when parents are not able to lay the remains of their child to rest, we provide other ways to memorialize beyond a traditional interment and headstone. If you are searching for ways to honor your child lost in miscarriage or stillbirth, A Mom's Peace invites you to consider three options:
Memorial River Rock
On the grounds of the Benedictine Monastery in Bristow, VA, the Parent Bereavement Garden is adorned with memorial river rocks created to honor children who have died. Parents share their child's name and date of loss and our apostolate orders a personalized stone etching. The finished stone is then placed into the Parent Bereavement Garden among other rocks.
This is a beautiful way to remember the life of your child and the Garden serves as a healing place to visit and place your grief. More details including rock sizes and costs are here. We are grateful to the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia for inviting us to participate in their Parent Bereavement Garden.

The Garden of Remembrance
We have created The Garden of Remembrance as a virtual place to honor the beautiful children lost in miscarriage or stillbirth regardless of how many days, weeks or months their short lives blessed ours and no matter how much time has passed since losing them.
Parents submit the name of their child, date of loss and select a flower to "place" in the Garden. Within a couple of days, their flower is placed in The Garden alphabetically and families can “visit” and remember the precious soul who entered their lives, however briefly. There is no cost for this memorial. Submit here.
To date, more than 600 little ones have been memorialized in The Garden dating back as early as the 1930's and 1940's. Though The Garden was created in response to the needs of families who seek a place to honor their babies when interment is not an option, we welcome all parents to commemorate their child here.
Granite Marker
Families can also order a granite marker commemorating their child's name and date of loss that is shipped by mail. This is a great option for families who inter at home or are too far a distance to consider interment in cemeteries near A Mom's Peace.
Please find details including cost and marker photo here.

We pray that these options help parents honor the precious live of their children and provide consolation and much-needed closure, especially to families who otherwise would not have obtained it. May they serve as a reminder that you are not alone in the complexity of celebrating life while grieving loss. And may all the precious souls who have touched our hearts never be forgotten.
